Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- A Welikada Prison officer has been arrested by officers of the Emergency Response Tactical Force while attempting to smuggle a stock of narcotics concealed inside his footwear.

The suspect, identified as prison guard S.A.A.E. Samaratunga, who is on duty for prisoner registration, was intercepted at the entrance when tactical force personnel ordered him to remove and inspect his shoes.

The search led to the recovery of 8 grams and 510 milligrams of heroin along with 54 grams and 110 milligrams of ice narcotics hidden ingeniously inside one of the shoes.
