Sri Lanka, Oct. 7 -- COLOMBO, Oct. 7: USS Tulsa (LCS 16), an Independence-variant littoral combat ship of the United States Navy, arrived at the Port of Colombo yesterday for its second visit to Sri Lanka in two years.

The port call is aimed at strengthening the maritime partnership between the US and Sri Lanka and cooperation to maintain peace, security and prosperity across the Indian Ocean.

"Every American ship that visits Sri Lanka is an opportunity to deepen the friendship between our countries and the bonds between our sailors," US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Eric Meyer said.
