Sri Lanka, July 26 -- A special public health pest control and vector-borne disease control programme was launched by the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Health Ministry and the National Dengue Control Unit, to control the islandwide spread of dengue and enhance national capacity to act against it.

Financed under the US Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster, and Civic Aid (OHDACA) programme, this project involves experts in preventive medicine, entomology, disease surveillance, and comprehensive mosquito control from the US Army Pacific (USARPAC) and the 18th Theatre Medical Command exchanging technical knowledge and experience with Sri Lankan health officials.
