Sri Lanka, Sept. 13 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has raided an illegal footwear manufacturing facility operating without paying taxes in the Kawdana area of Dehiwala.

Investigations revealed that footwear components were imported into the country separately with the intention of evading tax payments.

The footwear was subsequently assembled at the facility and sold at high prices, bearing counterfeit labels claiming to be manufactured in China.

Nearly 1,000 pairs of such assembled footwear were discovered and seized during the raid.
