Sri Lanka, March 9 -- Police Headquarters reported that two 20-year-old men lost their lives yesterday (08) following road collisions in two separate areas of the island. Notably, both incidents occurred during attempts to overtake other vehicles, and both victims were travelling as pillion passengers on motorcycles.

The first incident took place last night on the Habarana-Batticaloa road in the Raja Ela area. A bus travelling toward Polonnaruwa collided with a motorcycle while attempting to overtake it. Both the rider and the passenger were admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital with severe injuries, where the 20-year-old passenger later died. Minneriya Police are conducting further investigations.
