Two companies open LCs for 4,000 motor vehicles before surcharge - Niroshan Padukka
Sri Lanka, May 19 -- Two companies opened letters of credit for 4,000 motor vehicles before a 50% surcharge was imposed on the customs import tax levied on imported vehicles.
The National Convenor of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya Anti-Corruption Force, Niroshan Padukka, says this.
He took steps to hand over a letter to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka stating this.
The 50% surcharge on customs duties for vehicle imports was imposed on the 15th with the aim of avoiding risks that could arise in the future.
The value of the rupee depreciated further against the US dollar.
