Sri Lanka, Feb. 26 -- Kalutara South Police have arrested three girls residing in a prominent local children's home after they allegedly broke into a restaurant at the Vernath Fernando Stadium.

The suspects, aged 13, 14, and 15, are accused of stealing confectionery worth nearly Rs. 40,000.

Police investigations revealed that the girls had stolen the key to the children's home and slipped out around 1:30 AM.

They reportedly shattered the front glass of the stadium restaurant with a wooden pole before making off with a stash of chocolates, toffees, lollipops, chewing gum, and peppermints.

The items were transported back to the children's home in polythene bags and hidden.
