Sri Lanka, Oct. 24 -- A heated confrontation broke out today (24) between the Maha Sangha, staging a satyagraha at Viharamahadevi Park, demanding the release of the imprisoned Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera, and Colombo Municipal Council officials.

According to our reporter, tensions arose when municipal council officials attempted to dismantle and remove display boards erected by the protesting monks at the site.
