Sri Lanka, March 9 -- Subramaniam Selvakumar, a 52-year-old resident of Dematagoda, was ordered to be remanded until March 23 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (09). He is the primary suspect in the killing of Mitrani Fernando, a widowed piano teacher who resided on Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07.
Investigations revealed that the suspect worked as a labourer performing garden cleaning services for residences in Colombo and is unmarried. Police previously informed the court that the suspect confessed to entering the victim's home on the morning of December 15, 2024, for cleaning work. According to the confession, he assaulted and subsequently strangled her with a piece of wire.
