SriLanka, March 30 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered today (30) that a man suspected of the murder of Mitrani Fernando, a widowed piano teacher residing at Wijerama Mawatha, be remanded until the 6th.
The court remanded 52-year-old Subramaniam Selvakumar, a resident of Dematagoda.
Police identified the suspect as an unmarried labourer who performed garden cleaning services for houses in Colombo.
Police previously informed the court that the suspect confessed to visiting the victim's house on the morning of December 15, 2024, for cleaning work, where he allegedly assaulted and strangled her with a piece of wire.
