Sri Lanka, April 9 -- A 29-year-old suspect detained in a cell at the Matugama Headquarters Police Station escaped by suddenly pushing the door open as the duty sergeant was unlocking it, according to police.
The individual, known by the alias "Matugama Iddagoda Katta," fled last night (08). He was being held for possession of 2,200 mg of "Ice". The incident occurred when the officer opened the cell door to place another individual, arrested for drunk driving, inside.
A senior police officer stated that the duty sergeant attempted to apprehend the fleeing suspect, but the individual managed to disappear into the darkness. Matugama Headquarters Police have launched a special investigation to rearrest the escaped suspect.
