SriLanka, March 13 -- The state anointing ceremony, a central tradition of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, is scheduled for April 15 at the historic Natha Devalaya in Kandy.
Minister of Health and Media, Dr Nalinda Jayatissa, visited Kandy today (13) to invite the Mahanayake Theras of the Malwatta and Asgiri chapters, along with the Deputy Chief Prelate Theras, by offering traditional sheaves of betel.
Adhering to ancient customs, the ceremony will take place at the Natha Devalaya grounds within the Sri Dalada Maligawa premises at 6:54 AM on April 15, the Minister informed the chief prelates.
