Sri Lanka, July 26 -- Doctor Sathya Herath, a medical specialist at the National STD/AIDS Control Programme, was selected among the 2026 Hepatitis Elimination Champions, announced the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination.

The Health Ministry said the announcement came in conjunction with World Hepatitis Day marked on July 28.

Herath is among the four professionals named worldwide as champions this year for their exceptional contributions to hepatitis elimination through commitment, public awareness, policy development, service delivery, and technical innovation.
