Sri Lankan culinary team wins silver medal at SCO Summer competition
Sri Lanka, June 28 -- The Sri Lankan culinary team secured the silver medal at the prestigious 2026 SCO Summer chefs' competition, marking the country's name in gold letters within the international culinary field.
The tournament took place on June 26th and 27th in Qingdao, China.
Teams representing powerful nations such as China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan participated in the tournament, which brought together many of the world's most talented chefs.
Head chef Nishad Samaranayaka and assistant chef Manoj Liyanage entered the competition representing a Sri Lankan restaurant located in Beijing, China.
