Sri Lanka tops vote to join UN CEDAW Committee
Sri Lanka, June 27 -- Sri Lanka secured election to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW Committee) during a vote conducted at the United Nations Headquarters.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the country obtained 144 out of 185 valid votes, achieving the top position among all successful candidates.
The international community's vote reflects strong confidence in Sri Lanka's dedication to protecting women's rights and advancing gender equality, the Ministry noted.
