Sri Lanka secures $200m ADB loan for rebuilding
Sri Lanka, Aug. 19 -- Sri Lanka signed a USD 200 million loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank to execute a 5-year reconstruction and livelihood support project following Cyclone Ditwah.
The loan agreements were signed at the Treasury in Colombo on Tuesday by Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Secretary Harshana Suriyapperuma for the government and Country Director for Sri Lanka Shannon Cowlin for the Asian Development Bank. The Finance Ministry did not disclose the terms and conditions of the signed loan.
This financial assistance will fund the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads damaged by the cyclone, incorporating enhanced climate resilience between 2026 and 2030. The funds will also support resto...
