Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- The special launch ceremony for the Digitalisation of Terrestrial Television Broadcasting (DTTB) project took place at the Lotus Tower premises in Colombo under the theme "The Next Wave of Television."

Clearer visual quality for television viewers and upgraded telecommunications infrastructure will result from the DTTB implementation.

Health and Media Minister Dr Nalinda Jayatissa highlighted these benefits during the event, emphasising that the system aims to provide fair access across both state and private television sectors while safeguarding media freedom.

Jayatissa expressed appreciation for support from the Japanese Embassy, marking the launch as a milestone following a waiting period of 10 to 12 years.
