Sri Lanka, Sept. 29 -- Diplomatic discussions took place between Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The talks focused on current regional and international developments, with the Sri Lankan delegation stressing the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomatic channels.

Continued negotiations were encouraged to lower regional tensions and restore stability at the earliest opportunity
