Sri Lanka, May 1 -- The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) formally welcomed the nation, marking a collaborative effort to bolster global big cat conservation and environmental sustainability. This membership follows a decision initially publicised in April as a bilateral outcome of Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan's diplomatic visit to the island.
Details of the agreement emerged on 19 April after high-level discussions between the two neighbouring countries. The India-led initiative focuses on the protection of seven major species, including the tiger, lion, leopard, snow leopard, cheetah, jaguar, and puma.
