Sri Lanka, IMF begin talks on post-2027 long-term growth deal
Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- Sri Lanka is discussing a new programme with the International Monetary Fund following the scheduled end of the current Extended Fund Facility.
Deputy Finance Minister Anil Jayantha informed Parliament on Thursday that the existing programme remains on track to finish in March 2027.
Parallel talks focus on future engagement options, shifting the focus from crisis management toward a sustainable, growth-oriented model.
The original request for assistance followed a severe economic collapse that led to the country's first sovereign default in April 2022.
