Sri Lanka, Aug. 3 -- The Mahaweli Authority stated that steps are being taken to open the spill gates and scour sluices of the Kotmale Reservoir.

Accordingly, the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority stated that the opening of the relevant spill gates and scour sluices will begin today (03) from 3 p.m.

Due to this, authorities requested people living in low-lying areas below the Kotmale Reservoir and on both sides of the Kotmale Oya to remain highly vigilant and take necessary safety measures.
