Sri Lanka, April 10 -- The Ministry of Defence has taken steps to implement a special island-wide security programme for the upcoming Sinhala and Hindu New Year festive season.

This programme has been launched based on instructions from Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the public to celebrate the festivities, a statement confirmed.

The security network involves the participation of the Tri-Forces, Sri Lanka Police, and intelligence agencies.

Special attention is being directed toward musical performances, community festivals, and religious programs held during this period.
