Special photographic unit established to identify vehicles emitting excessive smoke
Sri Lanka, Oct. 10 -- The Vehicle Emission Testing Programme of the Department of Motor Traffic has established a special photographic unit to identify vehicles emitting excessive smoke on public roads.
Under this initiative, officers will be deployed at strategic locations across major cities to covertly monitor and photograph heavy smoke-emitting vehicles. Vehicle owners will be issued repair orders on the same day based on the photographic evidence.
Owners receiving these orders are required to repair their vehicles before the specified date and present them to the Vehicle Emission Testing Centre in Werahera for inspection.
