Sri Lanka, Oct. 10 -- The special committee appointed to update prison regulations and standing orders has convened for its inaugural meeting.

The President's Media Division stated that Minister of Justice, Attorney-at-Law Harshana Nanayakkara, provided the policy guidelines for the process during the session.

This special committee was appointed in accordance with a decision taken during a discussion held on October 8 between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Chief Prelates of the tri-sects.
