Sri Lanka, March 4 -- The Attorney General informed the Court of Appeal today (04) that the Tourism Development Authority has taken a policy decision not to promote tourism activities targeting the LGBTQ+ community within Sri Lanka.

This notification was made during the calling of a petition requesting the annulment of a letter issued by the Chairman of the Tourism Development Authority to a non-governmental organisation, which had approved a project to promote LGBTQ+-centred tourism in the country.

The petition was filed by a group including Dr Gunadasa Amarasekara, the convener of the Desha Hithaishee Jathika Vyaparaya.

Dr Wasantha Bandara, one of the petitioners, was also present in court when the case was called.
