SLTB depot fined for mosquito breeding sites
Sri Lanka, July 2 -- The Homagama Magistrate's Court has imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000 after authorities reported the presence of dengue mosquito breeding sites within the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) depot premises in Homagama, the Homagama Medical Officer of Health's office said.
Mosquito breeding grounds were previously discovered around two months ago in discarded tyres, iron and other equipment left after bus repair work at the depot. Despite several warnings and even red notices issued due to a lack of corrective action, authorities said the situation was not properly addressed.
