SLPP's Namal Rajapaksa alleges political revenge against military
Sri Lanka, May 19 -- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa has criticised the current government, saying that if the country's war heroes had not brought an end to the civil conflict, the President would not have been able to freely travel to Jaffna today without restrictions.
Speaking at a war heroes commemoration held at the Avissawella War Heroes Village on 17 May 2026, Rajapaksa alleged that "political revenge" against military personnel and intelligence officers who were involved in the wartime effort has continued even after the end of the war.
