Sri Lanka, Sept. 13 -- Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) launched its "people's struggle for the nation's self-respect" from the historic city of Anuradhapura on Saturday (12), emphasising that internal enemies who betray the country for personal gain pose a greater danger than external threats.
In a message shared following the party's mass rally in Anuradhapura, home to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, the former President drew parallels between the present national situation and the history of the Anuradhapura Kingdom, describing it as a legacy of civilisation, invasions, resistance, betrayals, collapse, and resurgence.
