Sri Lanka, March 7 -- The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) says it plans to submit a no-confidence motion in Parliament next week against Kumara Jayakody, the Minister of Energy.
SJB MP Ajith P. Perera said the party reached a unanimous decision to proceed with the motion.
He stated that the move is based on two main reasons: an indictment already filed against the minister by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in the Colombo High Court, and what the party describes as his failure to properly handle the coal procurement process.
Perera added that the SJB is currently holding discussions with other opposition groups to gain wider backing for the motion.
