Sri Lanka, Aug. 24 -- Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament Chaminda Wijesiri, who was serving an 18-month prison sentence after being convicted of threatening two individuals with death and assaulting them, was released on bail.

This was following the consideration of the appeal petition he submitted.

However, despite being released on bail, he was prohibited from travelling abroad without prior permission from the court.
