Six Tamil parties seek meeting with President
Sri Lanka, July 25 -- Leaders and representatives of six Tamil-speaking political parties met at the Parliament Complex on Friday to reaffirm their commitment to engage collectively on issues of common concern.
The parties agreed to work together on matters where common ground exists to advance the interests of Tamil-speaking communities while maintaining their independent political positions, policies, and identities.
The representatives formally wrote to the President of Sri Lanka requesting a meeting to discuss national issues affecting Tamil-speaking communities.
Following the presidential meeting, the group plans to meet the Leader of the Opposition and members of the diplomatic community to exchange views and build consensus.
