Sri Lanka, Aug. 28 -- Showers may occur from time to time today in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Fairly heavy showers above 75 millimetres can be expected at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.

It is stated that showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 pm.

Mainly dry weather prevails in the rest of the island.
