Sri Lanka, Nov. 3 -- A latest report submitted to Parliament by the Ministry of Agriculture indicates that although 30 veterinary officers are required for the Nuwara Eliya district, which holds the top position in overall milk production in Sri Lanka, only 09 officers are currently in service.

Dairy farmers point out that they have been forced to face issues due to this situation.

Meanwhile, the report submitted to Parliament by the Ministry of Agriculture also shows that while a Nuwara Eliya District Deputy Director's office exists under the Central Provincial Department of Animal Production and Health, no vehicles are available for that office or a veterinary office.
