Seven-year-old dies after choking on tamarind seed
Sri Lanka, Sept. 3 -- A tragic incident has unfolded in the Galaha area, where a seven-year-old girl lost her life after a tamarind seed became lodged in her throat.
Sanudi Lakshani, a resident of Kurukale in Nillambe, Galaha, was playing at home with her sisters in the afternoon when she unknowingly took some tamarind from the kitchen. The accident occurred as she attempted to eat one of the seeds, which subsequently got stuck in her throat.
Upon realizing the danger, her mother and relatives immediately rushed her toward the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital in a lorry. Tragically, the young girl passed away while being transported to the hospital.
