Sri Lanka, June 27 -- A senior assistant secretary at the Presidential Secretariat was arrested by the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau on charges of fraudulently preparing a forged passport under another person's name for an organised criminal to flee the country.

The Police Media Division issued a statement noting that a team of officers from the Homicide and Organised Crime Investigation Division of the Central Criminal Investigation Bureau made the arrest last afternoon (26).

The arrested individual is a 41-year-old resident of the Kandy area.
