Sri Lanka, Nov. 6 -- A severe shortage of cancer treatment drugs and other essential medicines is affecting Sri Lanka, requiring immediate government action, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa warned.

The Opposition Leader claimed in Parliament today (06) that patients face serious difficulties due to shortages impacting both government and private healthcare institutions.

Several essential medicines, including Adrenaline, Atropine, Piriton, Ondansetron, Maxolon, Phenergan, and Hydrocortisone, remain unavailable, the Opposition Leader highlighted.

Some of these medicines are unavailable even in private hospitals, creating severe barriers to essential medical treatment, the Opposition Leader claimed.
