Sri Lanka, March 3 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa raised a question of privilege in Parliament today (3) 2026, alleging that his rights were violated when the Speaker requested him to amend a query regarding coal imports. Premadasa argued that under Standing Order 27(2), he has the right to ask questions of national importance, specifically concerning the procurement and quality of coal.
Premadasa highlighted several critical concerns regarding the energy sector:
