Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has questioned how the government intends to present the 2027 Budget without first revealing the progress and implementation status of the 2026 Budget.

Raising the matter in Parliament on October 22 under Standing Order 27(2), Premadasa noted that the 2027 Budget is scheduled to be presented on November 12, leaving the government with limited time to provide a comprehensive account of the previous budget's implementation.

He stressed that allocating funds for budget proposals alone would not achieve the intended economic and development objectives, adding that the government must ensure public funds are effectively utilised to deliver the expected results.
