Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- The Department of Meteorology has warned that sea areas off the coast from Kankesanthurai to Puttalam via Mannar, as well as from Hambantota to Pottuvil, may become rough at times.

The department said sea waves in the areas extending from Negombo to Pottuvil via Galle and Matara could rise to around 2 to 3 metres.

As a result, there is a possibility of sea waves reaching the shore in coastal areas from Beruwala to Matara via Galle.

The Department of Meteorology has therefore advised fishing and naval communities engaged in activities in the affected sea areas to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
