Sri Lanka, Nov. 8 -- President's Counsel Rienzie Arseculeratne, the current Deputy President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), is set to contest for the position of President of the Association for the 2027/28 term.

Arseculeratne has agreed to put forward his candidature following requests from a large number of senior and junior members of the legal profession.

The current BASL President, Attorney-at-Law Rajeev Amarasuriya, who was re-elected unopposed for the 2026/27 term, is due to complete his tenure in 2027.
