Sri Lanka, March 25 -- Retired Major General Suresh Sallay, currently held under 90-day detention orders, underwent observation by Colombo Fort Magistrate Isuru Nettikumara yesterday (24).

The Magistrate visited the Criminal Investigation Department to inquire about his welfare and subsequently issued relevant orders to the department.

Meanwhile, former SriLankan Airlines Chairman Nishantha Wickramasinghe was released on bail yesterday following his arrest by Bribery Commission officers.

He faced allegations of illegally paying fuel allowances totalling Rs. 2,853,935 from the airline between 2012 and 2014.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court granted him release on two personal bails of Rs. 5 million each.
