Rebuilding Sri Lanka funds remain untouched at Treasury
Sri Lanka, June 4 -- Donations collected under the 'Rebuilding Sri Lanka' initiative remain completely unutilised in a separate Treasury account.
Officials from the Auditor General's Department shared this update with the Committee on Public Finance.
The disclosure came during a recent committee meeting when members questioned the status, management and oversight of the initiative, which the public often calls the 'Rebuilding Sri Lanka' fund.
Committee Chairman Harsha de Silva raised concerns about accountability, questioning whether a formal fund actually exists, where the money went and how authorities audit it.
