Rainfall above 50 mm possible in several areas
Sri Lanka, July 30 -- Intermittent rain is expected today (30) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts, according to an announcement issued by the Department of Meteorology.
Certain locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts may experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm.
The remaining areas of the island maintain a mainly dry weather condition.
Intermittent strong winds of about 40 to 50 km/h are likely in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, and Central provinces, as well as in the Ratnapura, Monaragala, Hambantota, and Trincomalee districts.
