Sri Lanka, March 26 -- Sri Lanka's power sector is facing mounting challenges amid global fuel supply disruptions, with officials warning that adequate rainfall will be critical to maintaining electricity generation in the coming weeks.
The country relies on a diversified energy mix that includes hydropower, thermal power (coal and fuel oil), and renewable sources such as wind, solar, biomass, and mini-hydro. Recent data indicates that about 59% of electricity is generated from renewable sources, while the remaining 41% comes from fossil-fuel-based thermal power.
