Sri Lanka, Aug. 9 -- Rain or thundershowers will occur at times today(09), in the Sabaragamuwa and Western Provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara Districts, the Department of Meteorology forecast.

Rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva Province and in the Batticaloa and Ampara Districts after 2 p.m., the department announced. Meanwhile, it also mentioned that several spells of rain may occur in the North-Western Province.

Strong winds of about 40 to 50 kilometres per hour blowing at times can occur in the North Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, and North Western Provinces and in the Trincomalee District.
