Sri Lanka, July 18 -- The pistol suspected to have been used by former Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne to commit suicide will be referred to the Government Analyst for further investigations.

Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Western Province South Crime Division, Samantha Wijesekera, stated this.

He said that following the reporting of facts to the court, plans are in place to hand over this firearm to the analyst next Monday.

Meanwhile, the final rites of the deceased former Inspector General of Police C.D. Wickramaratne are scheduled for next Monday.

Reports indicate that arrangements are currently underway to keep his remains at a private funeral parlour in Colombo.
