Prices of essential goods rise significantly
Sri Lanka, May 21 -- According to daily food price data released by the Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute, the price of imported Ponni samba rice per kilogram, which was recorded at Rs. 196 on the 14th of this month, has increased to Rs. 226 today.
This marks a price increase of Rs. 30 within a week.
Similarly, the price of imported potatoes, which stood at Rs. 146 per kilogram on the 14th, has risen to Rs. 163 today.
The price of white sugar, which was Rs. 195 per kilogram on the 14th, has also increased, reaching Rs. 212 today.
