Presidential Secretariat official remanded over fake passport allegation
Sri Lanka, June 27 -- The Senior Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Secretariat, arrested for allegedly preparing a fake passport for an organised criminal to flee the country during his tenure at the Department of Immigration and Emigration, was remanded until the 30th of this month.
The suspect was remanded following an order by the Maligakanda Magistrate's Court.
The 41-year-old suspect, a resident of Kandy, was arrested yesterday (26).
According to the police, he prepared the fake passport for the criminal to flee the country while serving as the Deputy Controller of the Overseas Missions Division of the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
