Sri Lanka, Oct. 11 -- Pregnant women face a risk of contracting influenza amid the rapid spread of the virus, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Professor Sanath Lanerolle has warned.

Speaking at a media briefing yesterday (10), Professor Lanerolle said pregnant women could protect themselves against the infection by receiving the influenza vaccine before contracting the illness.

He highlighted the importance of preventive measures as influenza cases continue to rise, particularly among vulnerable groups.
