Sri Lanka, Sept. 27 -- Sri Lanka Police clarified the legal procedures surrounding the repossession of vehicles and other leased property by leasing and finance companies, emphasizing that police officers do not take part in the actual repossession process.

According to the Police Media Division, the Finance Leasing Act No. 56 of 2000 sets out the procedures that lessors and their authorized representatives must follow when seeking to recover leased property, including vehicles. Police officers have been informed of these legal provisions through official circulars.
